Ingredients
1/2 pound mild Italian sausage
1/2 pound ground turkey
1 egg (lightly beaten)
1 teaspoons mixed Italian seasoning blend (basil, oregano, thyme)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
1/2 cup low sugar marinara or pizza sauce
Toppings of choice (pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, black olives, etc.)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Add sausage, ground turkey, seasoning, salt, and egg to a large bowl. Work ingredients with your hands to combine.
Transfer mixture to your baking sheet and press into a large, thin circle. You can place another piece of parchment over the meat and use a rolling pin as well to flatten it evenly. This will help it cook faster.
Bake for 12 minutes. Remove from the oven and carefully drain off excess drippings with a paper towel.
Top with marinara sauce, cheese, and desired toppings.
Switch your oven to broil and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with additional seasonings, parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes if desired. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
