  1. Heat butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sausage and cook until browned.
  3. Add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in broth, heavy cream, cream cheese, arrowroot powder, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt and pepper.
  5. Simmer for 5-6 minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for an additional 5 minutes until sauce is thickened.
