Exogenous ketones, or ketone bodies taken externally instead of created by the body, are fairly new on the market. Even so, they are rising quickly in popularity. If you’re not sure how and when to use Perfect Keto Base exogenous ketones, this article will break down the different ways you can use the product to meet your needs and support your health. Then, we’ll talk about the best times to utilize our MCT oil powder, too.

Also…We have a downloadable Perfect Keto User’s Manual with some awesome graphics for you too! You can find it here. 🙂

When and How to Take Perfect Keto Base

The best times for taking Perfect Keto Base really depend on your goals, but we typically recommend beginning with ¼ to ½ scoop and going up from there. The exact time and amount can vary based on what works best for you. That being said, we’ll cover some of the most common ways to take Perfect Keto Base.

Getting Into and Staying in Ketosis Quickly

One of the most common reasons for taking exogenous ketones is getting and staying in ketosis. If you’re just starting the ketogenic diet or are wanting to get your body back into ketosis after a period of being out of it, Perfect Keto Base provides the perfect opportunity for this because it lets the body know you want it to use ketones for fuel first. In other words, taking ketones will allow you to enter ketosis more quickly and see results faster than if you were simply eating very low carb ketogenic for a few days.

When and how to take it: Take ½ a scoop whenever you want to get into ketosis quickly and/or right after a meal heavier on carbohydrates than usual.

Constant Fat Burning

To ensure your body continues burning fat for energy, taking Perfect Keto at anytime can give you that extra dose of ketones for fuel.

When and how to take it: One scoop at anytime in between meals for constant fat burning.

Avoiding “Keto Flu” Symptoms

Your body can react quite unpleasantly when transitioning from burning carbs for energy to using ketones. If your body still hasn’t gotten to the point where it’s efficient at fat-burning yet, the following, known as the “keto flu,” can occur:

  • Bloating
  • Headaches
  • Irritability
  • Low energy
  • Fatigue

When this happens, you can take Perfect Keto to give the body more ketones for efficient energy as it transitions, which can help you avoid or at least greatly reduce keto flu issues.

When and how to take it: Over 3-5 days during your transition into ketosis, take smaller doses of ⅓ to ½ of a full scoop spread out each day.

Sharp Mental State

Have you ever eaten a carbohydrate-rich meal and experienced mental fog and a dip in energy soon after? That has to do with your body trying to move the glucose around to feed its different metabolic processes.

The blood-brain barrier doesn’t let glucose directly through to the brain for energy. However, ketones CAN get through the barrier more easily, meaning they’ll provide a constant energy supply to the brain. Taking exogenous ketones allows you to provide the brain with 4-6 hours of boosted mental energy even if you’re not constantly in ketosis.

When and how to take it: Take a full scoop on an empty stomach, preferably first thing in the morning.

Energy for Exercise

For athletes, exogenous ketones can be a life saver when it comes to ongoing energy for their intense activity. For quick, explosive movements, the body can either pull from your glycogen stores or make fuel from your fat. In each case, oxygen is required for both processes. There’s also a big need for oxygen during endurance exercise, too.  Taking Perfect Keto ketones gives your body that immediate energy with less need for oxygen.

When and how to take it: Before a workout that will be 45 minutes or longer, take a full scoop. Then take another ½ of a scoop for every hour greater than two hours of continuous work you do.

As you can see, there are a lot of reasons and times that are great to take Perfect Keto Base, and each of our tubs come with 15 scoops of pure beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) for your ketone-fueled lifestyle needs.

  1. DO you have a specific time, or recipe schedule to consume your product? Both MCT and Ketone powder. For example, in the morning, drink MCT powder with coffee and ghee/ dinner powder, etc.

  2. I am sensitive to stimulants is Perfect Keto classified as a stimulant? I have been practicing the Keto diet for 6 weeks and had a piece of cake at a wedding last weekend and am struggling to get back into Ketosis. I would like to try this but want to be sure i won’t have an adverse reaction.
    Thanks!

  3. How can I take this to ensure I’m staying in ketosis? How many times per day? Or is it 1 scoop per day?
Considering this causes bowel changes is it recommended to take prior to a workout? Keto newbie here..Thanks

  4. Great questions. Very individual. We recommend starting at 1/4 to a half scoop then moving up from there. Ensuring you stay in ketosis will depend on following a ketogenic diet (almost no-carb, and moderate protein). I’d encourage you to join our community group on facebook! Type in Perfect Keto Community Group. See you there.

  5. This is my first time trying this product. I took Keto os before and usually took it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. My goal is weight loss/appetite management. Is it ok to only drink the Keto Base Exogenous Ketones BHB Salts or is it better to take the MCT oil?

  6. One Question about Ketoacidosis. You suggest taking Ketone Supplement after a “carb laden meal” to get back to ketosis. However, couldn’t that induce an artificial Ketoacidosis as the reason Ketosis doesn’t normally go to ketoacidosis is because the normal state of ketosis is low blood sugar/high ketone. But after a carb laden meal your blood sugar would be raised and adding ketones then would create the ketoacidotic environment (ie high blood sugar with high ketones).

  7. i bought chocolate sea salt Perfect Keto Exogenous Ketones through amazon, but dont know if is safe to take while being on medicine for high cholesterol ??? anybody

  8. Hi there, since everyone reacts differently, we highly recommend consulting your doctor beforehand if planning to combine your medication with our supplements.

  9. Hi Ashley! Yes, you can certainly opt to take just the ketones. However, since MCT is a great source of healthy fats, some people will even mix both the ketones and MCT together in their drinks.

  10. I just started using the chocolate base and mct in my coffee in the morning. It seems to cause the little extra cream (18%) I put in to curdle, and it’s definitely not the cream. Is this a known issue?
    Thanks!

  11. When you say “Over 3-5 days during your transition into ketosis, take smaller doses of ⅓ to ½ of a full scoop spread out each day,” do you mean split a 1/2 scoop dose into multiple doses throughout the day, or use a 1/2 scoop dose multiple times during the day? Thank you!

  12. Hi Heather, you want to assess your tolerance by beginning with a smaller dose and then working your way up. So for example, you could start with 1/3 or 1/2 scoop in the morning and if you feeling good then maybe try another 1/3 -1/2 scoop in the afternoon and so on. Hope that helps! 🙂

  13. Hi Jaime, I have not heard of this concern before but sometimes when I use cream and it is nearing its expiration date, it begins to curdle – could that be the issue?

  14. Great question Rich. However, taking exogenous ketones would not raise your blood ketone levels enough to reach the levels that occur with ketoacidosis.

  15. When taking Keto-OS, u have to take additional salt, calcium and magnesium. Do u have to take this with Perfect Keto?

  16. Hey Sharon, that would depend on you as an individual. Some people need to incorporate more electrolytes and minerals into their daily routine depending on if they work out heavily or other lifestyle factors. I would recommend starting off with just the product itself and then determine from there how you feel.

  17. Sure! I would try small scoops of each first though to test your tolerance to make sure it doesn’t upset your stomach.

  18. Hi I have just purchased and am going to start taking Perfect Keto. I have been doing Keto for a few months now but seem to struggle to stay above 0.5 the highest my blood has read was 1.1 , just wondering how long after taking it do you generally see increased blood results??

  19. I’m still confused…what is the difference between chocolate sea salt ketone base and chocolate collagen?
    Which one should I take?

  20. How do we take the base, mct oil protein and matcha if we have all 3 of them? Do you have a time table on how to burn fat faster using all those 3 in a day? Or is it just take whatever we feel like having at the moment? Thanks

  21. Hey MJ, it just depends on what you’re in the mood for and what your goals are. I’d try out the same combo for a week and see how you feel/results you’re getting and then adjust.

  22. Hi Dinamarie, chocolate sea salt ketone base are exogenous ketones and the chocolate collagen powder is a mixture of collagen peptides and mct powder. 2 different products. If go to the product page, you’ll see detailed descriptions of both. Hope that helps!

  23. Hi Mariela! Yes, you can mix it with MCT Oil Powder. This will add creaminess to your beverages.

  24. Ok I’m struggling to get into Ketosis, I take MCT oil powder, with Perfect Keto chocolate sea salt, I do a scoop of each 3 times a day and while my energy Is Amazing and no tummy issues I’m not getting into a keto state. I’m eating high fat, moderate protein and low carb to no carb. I should mention that in the past 3 years I have successfully lost over 200# kept it off totally and reversed type 2 diabetes completely as well as gone off blood pressure meds. I have gone from a size 30/32 plus size to a current 10/12 juniors. I did all of that just by reducing my carbs and exercising.

  25. Does the coffee base and the mct powder do the same thing? Or does the base give instant ketones while the powder makes your body turn it into ketones? Ordered both but wondering if I need both or what each one will do different from the other. Also, what is max scoops per day (granted there are no digestive issues.)

    Thx! 🙂

  26. Hi! I’m having the same issue with the curdling effect when adding the chocolate sea salt to my coffee with some heavy cream. Any idea? I don’t want to waste precious scoops while trying to figure out why. Thanks!

  27. If I am going to be involved with an endurance event that is over 8 hours, what is the best way to utilize Perfect Keto for energy? 1 scoop 20 min before and then 1/2 every hour or all at once?

  28. Hi what is the maximum dosage to take per day? and can you take more than one scoop through out the day?

  29. Can I mix a batch ahead of time and then just pour a glass with my meals or when I want it. How would I keep the premix if the answer is yes?

  30. Was wondering if I purchase both the base and the mct oil powder will it help to lose weight by following a low carb diet

  31. After consuming exogenous ketone before exercise daily i seem to be heavier than before. Despite daily IF for 16 hours and I am pretty strict with my diet may i know the reason for this? Not much inches lost too.

  32. Hi Linda, there are many benefits of putting the body into a state of ketosis, the most popular being weight loss. The length in time will vary depending upon your activity level, lifestyle, body type, and carbohydrate intake. If your body has been burning sugar for fuel your entire life, it will need time to adapt to burning ketones for fuel.

There are several ways you can speed up this process, like IF. But unlike keto, fasting is not a diet; it’s a method. Eating keto can actually make fasting easier because the high-fat content in ketogenic foods makes you feel full and satisfied with less food.
