Health Benefits of This East Keto Cream Pie Recipe

Rich In High-Quality Fats

While most cream pie recipes center themselves around carbs (sugar to be specific), this ketogenic recipe is packed with high-quality sources of fat.

The butter in both the cookies and the cream pie recipe is 100% grass-fed. This means you not only get the benefit of the fat-soluble vitamins naturally found in butter, but you also get a rich source of omega-3 fats and CLA[*][*].

In addition, the use of coconut flour and coconut cream means your cream pie is coming packed with lauric acid, a fatty acid that has potent antibacterial activity[*].

Nutrients For Bone Health

Collagen protein, well known for its role in joint health, also plays a role in the health of your bones. Research shows that specific collagen peptides can improve bone mineral density by increasing bone formation while decreasing the degradation of bone[*].

The first ingredient in the Perfect Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies is almonds, along with a myriad of other nutrients almonds happen to be a fantastic source of magnesium. Magnesium plays a critical role in bone health, with a deficiency in this vital nutrient contributing to bone diseases like osteoporosis[*].

How to Make Easy Keto Cream Pie

To start, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.

Beginning with the crust recipe, grab your food processor and process together your eggs, vanilla, and sea salt. Next, add in your coconut flour and crumbled cookies — processing everything together until well-combined.

Cube your butter, then slowly add that to your food processor until the mixture becomes crumbly, then refrigerate for 30 minutes.

(After 30 minutes, press the crust into a greased pie pan, and use a fork to poke holes in the bottom, and bake for 5 minutes, remove, and set aside while finishing the chocolate cream).

Meanwhile, grab a medium saucepan and over medium heat whisk together the coconut cream, cocoa powder, and chocolate collagen. While whisking, add in your xanthan gum until all the ingredients are combined.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for about 2-4 minutes, or until the mixture starts to thicken. Next, remove the mixture from heat and add in the chocolate chips, stirring until the chocolate chips have melted.

In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to combine the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla flavoring (can also use a food processor). Slowly add and mix a little of the chocolate mixture into temper the eggs, and keep doing this until all the chocolate mixture has been added, and add liquid stevia to taste.

Reduce oven temperature to 350 F., and pour chocolate cream into the prepared pie dish, and bake for 30 minutes. EH2A0547.jpg  EH2A0552.jpg

Keto Pie Cooking Tips

For your sugar substitute, feel free to go with swerve, erythritol, monk fruit sweetener or stevia.

If you’re going for a keto coconut cream pie, you can add some unsweetened coconut either in the cream filling or sprinkle some toasted coconut on top. For extra coconut flavor, you can also use coconut extract in place of vanilla.

If you don’t have a food processor, a hand mixer will also work, it just may take a few more minutes.
